Have a Fabulous Weekend!

Is it just me, or do these zucchini blossoms look a little bit like chickens?

I am SO excited that it's the weekend again, and even more so that it's going to be a beautiful one in NY! This week was pretty busy for me so it will be nice to have a few days to relax and catch up on the emails and projects I've been reluctantly forced to set aside. (If you've emailed me and not heard back yet, it's coming! I promise!)

I don't have lots of plans, although I am going to be stopping by my friend Nick's birthday party at the Boat Basin tomorrow afternoon (I haven't seen him in ages!). And I'm also going to my first wedding dress shopping appointment with my mom. (We're going here, which I've read really good things about.) I still have NO idea what kind of dress I want, but I'm not worried because I'm sure I'll know it when I see it.

I'm also hoping to do some groceries (we're dangerously low on just about everything!), and to do a little bit of fun summer cooking. I also have an interview with Chef Todd English, who provided the food for the Smiley Face NY event I attended earlier this week, in the works. It's a little bit of a departure from what we usually do around here, and I hope it will be interesting!

Until then, here are a few fun links for your browsing pleasure. Also, if you haven’t yet, be sure to connect with me on my Facebook page! I share random tidbits, recipes, and pictures there all week long (even when I’m not posting here!) and am also happy to answer any questions you may have about recipes, dining suggestions, or party ideas. Come on over (and if you’re already a “fan,” be sure to say leave a note and say hello!)

I'm a sucker for a good shortbread cookie, and these Lime Shortbread with Tangy Glaze totally caught my eye.

How gorgeous is this decoupaged chair? I would love to do something similar.

My friend Vanessa and her husband are in the process of adopting a baby from Ethiopia. She created this clever and very sweet visual countdown banner to help her get through the process. By the time the baby arrives, the whole Bible verse will be revealed. I love it!

I was so happy to be reminded about these Tortas de Aceite, which my dad sometimes buys. They're lovely with a hint of sweetness and slight anise flavor.

This guy is one of my favorite bloggers; I wish he lived in NY because it would be so cool to have him shoot our wedding.

Homemade coconut milk is really easy to make!

When I lived in DC, my friends would host a Kentucky Derby party, complete with fabulous hats and mint juleps, every year. It was such a normal thing for us, that I didn't realize it's not a common thing everywhere until I moved back to NY. Eugene last night actually said something along the lines of "what's the big deal about the Kentucky Derby? I don't get it." I was SHOCKED! I need to put it on my calendar to actually host a Derby day party next year, at which point I will definitely be serving these sweet treats.

Like Kate from the Parsley Thief, I can't help but squeal each time I see the trailer for the new movie, Babies. I just want to gobble them up!

Pesto bread! (scroll down for english recipe)

And just try and tell me that this Pig cookbook doesn't look amazing? (Unless, of course, you don't eat pork. And then I guess it probably won't look all that amazing.)

How gorgeous are these black and white business cards? (I dig the stripes!)

This fig marmalade looks like little jewels! (reminds me of my homemade membrillo)
