Introducing: Summer Cooking Classes by Alejandra!

I am beyond excited to announce that I've just launched a series of really fun cooking classes in New York City this summer!

Each of my classes will be very hands-on with just 8 students per class, so you're guaranteed plenty of personal instruction and a chance to try a variety of recipes and techniques. The classes are going to be held in a professional kitchen in midtown Manhattan, and will be structured in a dinner party style, which means that we'll actually be cooking a full meal together under my instruction, and will then sit down to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Unless otherwise specified, all the classes will feature paired cocktails or wine, so come ready to enjoy! (Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.)

Just like the recipes that I post here on the blog, the classes are all going to be focused on cooking from scratch with real, whole, fresh, and seasonal ingredients.  I'll be covering a variety of topics and cuisines, and featuring the kinds of recipes that I love to make again and again.

I just scheduled and posted my first two classes for the summer season and have included brief descriptions below. Be sure to click the links to read more and (hopefully!) register for the class.

Decadent Entertaining: Spanish Summer Tapas Party

Why choose when you can have a little bit of everything? In this hands-on class, we'll celebrate the vibrant flavors of summer by putting a seasonal twist on the classic Spanish tapas menu. You'll learn entertaining tips and ideas, will help cook and enjoy a fantastic Spanish meal, and will leave class having learned a full repertoire of savory (and sweet!) dishes that can be easily recreated at home.

In this class we'll make:
Grilled Bacon-Wrapped Apricots with Almond-Sage Stuffing
Grass-Fed Beef Meatballs in Herbed Tomato Sauce
Black Pepper Asparagus with Garlic Aioli 
Chistorra and Red Onions in Vermouth
Grilled Pan con Tomate
Dark Chocolate, Chorizo, and Saffron Crostini

Eating Real: Weeknight Basics

In this class, we'll make some of my favorite weeknight dishes. You'll learn 6 versatile recipes for mains and sides that you can mix and match throughout the year to get dinner on the table quickly on even the busiest of days. Plus, I'll share with you my recipe for Chocolate Tuesday Cake--a rich, dark cake so simple you can make it on a Tuesday night! You'll also learn professional tips and shortcuts that you can incorporate to make weeknight cooking easier and more efficient, and I'll give you ideas and suggestions for easy variations so you can customize the dishes to your taste and budget. We'll be cooking everything from scratch and using fresh, seasonal, organic ingredients. Get ready to find out just how good a weeknight meal can be!
